INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL IN PAPUA

1. HILLCREST INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

Hillcrest International School is located in Papua, Indonesia, on the top of a grassy plateau overlooking Lake Sentani and shadowed by Mt. Cyclops. Though close to the capital of Papua, Jayapura, the HIS campus is spacious and isolated from the traffic of everyday life.

Despite its rural surroundings, the school is equipped with the modern technology that's available to most first-world schools. The faculty is multicultural: American, Canadian, Australian, French, British, Korean, and Indonesian teachers and administrators come together to create a diverse academic and social mosaic. Students come from nations scattered across the globe, and, combined with the distinctive staff, create a culture of their own. Caught between contrasting worlds—city and jungle, advanced and developing—HIS provides a dynamic educational experience.

The Curriculum

The curriculum used at HIS is based on U.S. models and uses English as the language of instruction. To help students who come from non-English-speaking countries, the school provides ESL help and (when staff is available) a daily class in the student's mother tongue. Bible classes are mandatory for all grades.

Accreditation

Hillcrest International School is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), California, and is a member of the East Asia Regional Council of Overseas Schools (EARCOS) and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).

INTERNATIONAL AND NATIONAL PLUS SCHOOLS IN EAST JAKARTA

1. SEKOLAH TIARA BANGSA - ACS (International)

STB-ACS (International) Jakarta is an International Baccalaureate World School offering a world standard education. Set in a safe, semi-rural environment located off the Jorr Tol at Kelurahan Setu, approximately 15 kilometers south east from central Jakarta , it is within easy reach of Jakarta 's main residential areas in South and North Jakarta .

Tiara Bangsa was founded by a group of parents in July 1996 to provide first class global education for Indonesian and international children. As an independent fee-paying school, the founders believed that not only should there be an internationally accredited high-quality education but there should also be a strong philosophical basis. Students would be exposed to an educational environment that valued academic excellence, a love of God and high moral and ethical principles. In 2006, the school was formally welcomed as a member of the highly respected Singaporean Anglo Chinese Schools group.

As a coeducational day school managed by Yayasan Dian Anugerah Lestari, the school offers internationally accredited educational programs for children of Indonesian and expatriate families and all nationalities from Kindergarten through to Grade 12. Currently the school offers two IB programs (the Primary Years Programme and the Middle Years Programme) for students from Kindergarten to grade 10. We also offer IGCSE to students in grades 9 and 10 and A levels for students in grades 11 and 12. We are a candidate school for the IB diploma which we anticipate will be offered at the beginning of the 2007-2008 academic year. The Indonesian National curriculum is also offered at all levels. The Singapore curriculum in mathematics and science is used throughout grades 1 to 10. Standards are benchmarked against our sister schools in Singapore .

INTERNATIONAL AND NATIONAL PLUS SCHOOLS IN NORTH JAKARTA

1. NORTH JAKARTA INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

North Jakarta International School is located on a 5-acre site in Kelapa Gading, a modern secure residential community in the northeastern part of Jakarta. Currently, there are 170 students enrolled, representing 25 different nationalities and an age span from 4 to 15 years. NJIS reflects and is responsive to its international community. In fact, we like to think of ourselves as a mini United Nations. Our headmaster and our teachers put in a lot of effort into creating the special atmosphere that exists at NJIS. The student-teacher relationships are very close. We have two sections for each grade level, except for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten.

NJIS was established in January 1990, and later licensed by the Indonesian Ministry of education to provide schooling for the children of expatriates residing in Jakarta. It is recognized by the Ministry of Education as a Yayasan (not-for-profit social foundation) and operates as an independent, not for profit, co-educational day school for Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 10. A six-person Board of Governors oversees it. NJIS is a member of both the East Asia Regional Council of Overseas Schools (EARCOS), based in the Philippines, and the European Council of International Schools (ECIS), based in the United Kingdom. NJIS is fully accredited by ECIS.

NJIS does not have a special program for students with learning disabilities or special education problems. Admission is restricted to students likely to succeed within the context of the regular program.
